maybe I’m trying out a new style?

I sent this pic along with my fb friend request to the girls I met today at a meetup between American students and Japanese students. The one’s in my group were Rina-chan and Machi-chan (I LOVE HER NAME) and they were super sweet! They had a lot of trouble pronouncing Vlatko’s name lol

Also when I went to sign up for the event I bumped into Marie’s older sister! She was a TA for freshmen Japanese. I can totally see her as a teacher haha. Also the TA of my Jap 202 class recognized me as “the girl who draws cute things on her tests” because he forgot my name lol but I was flattered <3 But now I’m obligated to draw cute things on all my future tests because he always draws a smiley face next to them <3

If I make his day, that makes mine. HE’S SO CUTE AHHHHH

I need to work on my post lab before my caffeine wears off, bye bye biiiiii

Dad turned an old portrait of me into a button ;u; he has like a hundred of these and also buttons of a painting of a peach that looks like a butt.
I hope he doesn’t hand these out to his colleagues …
Also he gave me this one but I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do with a button of myself because I can’t exactly put my own face on my bookbag(narcissist alert!)

got myself this badass mask at the Fushima Inari Shrine in Kyoto. Foxes are thought to be God’s messengers and there are fox statues everywhere. 

We also passed through this passageway full of mons (those red gates). It was really pretty but really tiring haha

why can’t I have something as simple as this

Today my mom’s friend Yukie came over with her two kids Satsuki (the girl I babysit on Saturdays) and Koyuki, her older sister. Koyuki is an 8th grader and she wants to apply to LaGuardia Arts so she brought her portfolio over for my dad and I to look over. I still remember by audition clearly (-v-) There was a girl who seemed super confident in her art skills sitting next to me and I was so worried until I took a peek in her portfolio and found out it consisted mostly of anime tracings. After that I held my head high.

After they got bored of my mice Satsuki, Koyuki, and I headed out to window shop and pass the time. We went to EXIT9, Flight 001, and Paper Source.  At Exit9 there was a cute town view 3D iPhone case and I wanted was very tempted to purchase it, only to realize a second later I don’t own an iPhone yet. 

Paper Source is an arts and crafts store that focuses on paper crafts. There were so many different colored envelopes and papers that I wanted to color coordinate different papers and send pretty letters. A sweet employee showed me how to make a golden stamp that looks like a stencil using a clear, sticky stamp ink, glitter powder, and a mini hair dryer looking thing. Their stamp collection was pretty nice (the stamp store near 14th has multiple shelves brimming with original stamps) and it got me interested in printmaking again. I also can’t wait till Christmas so I can send out hand made holiday cards again.

daily rambles 1

so now I’m considering FIT for 3D animation. I can take all the art classes I want and not worry about money. I’m not all that comfortable with 3D animation but I might end up liking it so who knows. I’m still going to apply for SVA and see what scholarships and grants I get, and if it is actually a good deal, I might just go to SVA. Ugh, choices choices.

Also now I am determined to finish my portfolio before December so I can go to Japan over winter break. I’m going to buy the ticket in late October because by then, I should have at least a decent amount of artworks. Dad will definitely pull the ‘choose your priorities wisely’ card on me, but my friend Mengjie helped me compose of a list of reasons why I should go to Japan so I am ready for any argument.

I also went to grandma’s(my dad’s side) today because of moon festival. I felt bad that my parents weren’t able to go so I went instead. Her helper was there and we all ate rice noodles and I was totally stuffed. I didn’t understand a word either of them were saying but its the feelings that count I guess.

I went to urban outfitters later to buy the cute wine colored ombre tights but GASP they no longer carried it. Or the moon print ones. CRY

I got home and dad was prepping for dinner and when I said I might explode from food he said ‘you need to gain weight anyway’ but he was surprisingly lenient and let me skip dinner. I’ll probably get hungry around 10 though. I will make my specialty broccoli fritter and cheese spinach omelette.

I think thats it for today. HW time~~~~
